Huberator: title tracking

Huberator makes its members keep track of their trades at the Zeebrugge Hub. Members register their title transfers with Huberator by means of nominations stating for each hour the volumes of gas transferred and the purchasing and selling counterparties. Huberator then checks if volumes and counterparties effectively match. If not, transactions are adjusted. Final transactions are confirmed through allocations.

Back-up services to ensure firmness

In order to prevent the trading positions concluded between members to be impacted by operational issues, Huberator also offers associated services such as back-up mechanisms. These compensate for operational balances and secure firmness of delivery for the community of shippers and traders active at the hub.

Zeebrugge Hub trading: physical and financial

The Zeebrugge Hub is the market for trading natural gas brought into the Zeebrugge area:

• Intra hub trading: trading without shipping natural gas to or from the hub
• Shipping natural gas into the hub for selling, in which case the Zeebrugge Hub serves as an exit point in the Fluxys system
• Buying natural gas at the hub for onward delivery into Belgium or elsewhere in Europe, in which case the Zeebrugge Hub serves as an entry point into the Fluxys system

Several ways for members to conclude transactions

• Over-the-Counter (OTC): two parties agree directly between each other on a particular trade or agreement
• Through brokerage: parties agree on a trade making use of a company that acts as an intermediary and facilitates the trading activities of its clients
• Screen-based trading, also called “exchange”. Via a gas exchange members can buy gas or offer it for sale anonymously without the other party in the gas transfer being known. The gas exchange operator is responsible for bringing together the gas required or being offered for sale, and for the financial transaction. Such integrated trading, clearing and notification of Within-Day and Day-Ahead gas contracts at the Zeebrugge Hub is offered 24/7 by APX Gas ZEE.
